To enable students to explore different kinds of visual art media, the Visual Arts Department arranged in June for S3 students who are interested in studying Visual Arts in senior secondary levels or exploring the creative industries to attend three Visual Arts workshops organised by the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and the Hong Kong Art and Culture Anywhere Association (HKACAA) respectively.

Two workshops were organised by CUHK under the Jockey Club “Handmade Wellbeing” Youth Craft Education Programme where our students learnt the techniques of making pottery bowls and wooden chopsticks. Another was hosted by practicing artist Rachel Smith and funded by HKACAA, through which students learnt to create their own lightboxes and gained inspirations from Rachel’s stories in the art industry.

The participating students did not only hone their craft making techniques and creative entrepreneurship through these workshops, but also had a valuable opportunity to understand the inheritance of craft and culture.
